Hugo Technology achieves zero-non-conformities in ISO 14001 audit – reinforcing our environmental commitment
We are delighted to announce that Hugo Technology Ltd recently completed a surveillance audit of our certified environmental management system (EMS) under ISO 14001:2015 with no non-conformities identified. This outstanding result is a testament to the dedication of our compliance team and every colleague at Hugo who supports our journey of continual improvement.
Maturing our Environmental Management System
This marks the third full year of our EMS: during this time we have steadily matured the system and embedded environmental thinking into our core operations. Although the system is well established, we recognise that there is always room to refine and enhance our processes – and that mindset is exactly what the audit recognised.
The auditor commented favourably on several aspects of our system, in particular:
How we are leveraging our ERP platform to manage compliance activities in a structured, transparent and efficient way - from identification of aspects and impacts, through risk-based controls, to monitoring, review and continual improvement.
How our mature quality management system under ISO 13485 (which underpins our medical device service & solutions business) provided a strong foundation for the development and maintenance of the EMS.

...This result reflects not only the work of the compliance team but the efforts of everyone at Hugo who supports our commitment to continual improvement...
Aligning systems for improved performance
Because Hugo Technology already operates a robust ISO 13485 quality system, we were able to align our environmental system into existing structures - audits, management reviews, performance indicators, document control and training regimes. The result is a streamlined approach: environmental objectives and targets are not a “bolt-on”, but integrated into our management framework.
For example, within our ERP, we have:
A compliance module where environmental aspects and impacts are logged, evaluated and assigned actions.
Dashboards that track energy usage, waste streams, gas consumption and other relevant environmental metrics.
Automated reports to the management review cycle, ensuring senior leadership can review EMS performance alongside quality, health & safety and operational KPIs.
Training records and competency mapping for both quality and environmental disciplines managed in one system, ensuring clarity and scalability.
Environmental objectives and the year ahead
As part of our EMS we set environmental objectives. At present our objectives are:
Keep electricity use under 1,600 kWh per employee
Reduce general waste by 5%
Reduce natural gas consumption by 5%
These objectives will be reported at our Christmas party later this year, when we will share the results with the whole team and celebrate collective success.
From 2026 onward we will continue to refine our objectives and targets. We welcome suggestions from all colleagues - whether ideas around travel, consumables, process improvements or circular economy initiatives.
Why this matters
At Hugo Technology, we are more than a medical device service and solutions company - we are a responsible organisation that takes seriously our impact on the planet. Our certification under ISO 14001 means we have a structured system for identifying the environmental aspects of our business, setting targets, implementing controls and measuring performance. Achieving a zero-non-conformity audit means the system is working.
This achievement:
Demonstrates to our customers and supply partners that our environmental management is independently verified and effective.
Strengthens trust in our ability to integrate quality, regulatory, health & safety and environmental management in a coherent way.
Provides a strong platform for further environmental improvements - from energy efficiency, waste reduction, resource optimisation through to possibly broader sustainability metrics in the years ahead.
Thank you … and what happens next
A sincere thank you to everyone at Hugo Technology - in the offices, in the workshop, on the field service engineers’ teams, in planning, in operations - everyone has played their part in embedding environmental thinking into the way we work in this zero-non-conformities ISO 14001 audit.
In the months ahead we will continue to:
Review our EMS and consider enhancements for 2026 objectives and targets.
Continue to refine and improve how our ERP supports interplay between quality and environment - ensuring compliance, transparency and operational efficiency.
We pledge to continue improving our environmental performance, reducing our footprint and supporting the broader strategic goals of the Asker Healthcare Group, a platinum rated ECOVADIS Company.
