Updated: Jun 7, 2023

Sam Alexander-Weller - National Field Service Manager

Sam gives us a brief insight into his role of managing Field Engineers to consistently deliver OEM SLAs. Sam joined Hugo Technology in 2013 with a strong background in Sports Science, Human Physiology and Biomedical Field Service. We caught up with him recently. Here’s what he had to say:

“As National Field Service Manager, I have overall responsibility for the field service team at Hugo Technology, covering the UK to install, service and repair a range of medical devices for OEMs. We provide a reliable and efficient solution to OEMs who require support with their current install base, need extra assistance to supplement their own field teams or help tackle ad hoc upgrades and modification programmes. We currently operate with a field team of 20 Field Service Engineers split into a North and South team, lead by Andrew Hammond and Rob Boddington. Between the three of us, we have 27 years’ experience working with Hugo Technology and have built a strong working relationship that will continue to drive a successful field team.  The Field Engineer team work to support medical devices within the UK with occasional support to our OEM partners’ European and worldwide field operations, covering installs, service and repair of a vast range of medical devices including  Mandatory Field Modification projects.

I’m proud of the day to day assistance our highly skilled service team provides at customer sites and the direct impact this has on patient care. The importance of this service highlighted throughout the COVID-19 pandemic where our team worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic providing critical support for OEMs when supplying extra monitoring and ventilation equipment to support the NHS and their EBME departments.

We now have team members that have become experts in their field in networking, digital pathology and CT injection lead by product specialists who are continuously developing training plans to provide the highest level, most efficient service to our customers.

This year is my 9th with Hugo Technology and 15th year in the field of Medical Equipment service and maintenance. I’m extremely proud of the journey we have been on and I’m excited for the future ahead with the team that we are building”

In his spare time, Sam holds a season ticket at Coventry City FC and enjoys playing football, golf and squash regularly. Sam is also looking forward to onboarding newly agreed Field Service Contracts for the rest of 2022 whilst being supported by the North & South Team leaders.
